The village of Chama, New Mexico, is a destination for hunters, fishermen, campers, and sightseers interested in the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad. Spruce Lodge, a small, riverside hotel complex, dates back to 1955. Owner Scott Cole purchased Spruce Lodge in 2000 as part of a family dream. He has personally renovated each of the cabins himself.
Kids stay free and pets are always welcome. There's a play area, picnic tables, and a walk along the side of the Chama River. Located just at the edge of Chama proper, the grocery store and local restaurants are within easy driving range.
